Purple Sage

The Purple Sage still blooms
after a spring full of rain.

A horses' hooves still thunder
as the wind whips its' mane.

Cowboys still wipe at sweat
while their ponies feed on grain.

Spurs still ring like music
pushing cattle to the train.

A kid still sits on his bed
and sings an old refrain

of Pecos Bill or the Antelope
that roam across the plain.

A cowboy's life has unknown twists
remember a kid named Lane?

Cowboy's know life is tough
but hang on and maintain.

That's why they like to see
Purple sage bloom on the plain
