- No Horse
-
- Feeling the pain in his side,
Brownie knew
- before the next dawn, he had
waiting to do.
-
- Thinking of others who'd had it
much worse
- didn't keep him from giving his
pain a curse.
-
- Gettin' thrown wasn't a new
thing
- but how he'd landed caused a bad
sting.
-
- Making him gaze at the sky, as he
lay
- wishing to go back and start a new
day.
-
- Standing was something he'd do
later on
- now, it seemed, it wouldn't be
fun.
-
- Figuring now how long it would
be
- for his horse to get back, where
someone could see
-
- that this hand was missing and
needed help.
- His thoughts were broken by a
coyotes yelp.
-
- Then he saw light on the horizon,
like a train
- but he knew no tracks lay close on
this plain.
-
- The noise of a vehicle made the
light clear
- someone driving a four wheeler
near.
-
- Time to go home and get on the
mend
- so this night of pain can come to
an end
