Man With a Name

They tell me another man's gone on ahead
His time here was cut short too soon
I'm glad I got to know his name
So I can remember to sing him a tune

I saw his picture on the  bar-d dot com
And read a piece or two of his work
His thoughts touched folks far and near
Giving them time that for him was a perk

Throughout history both men and women
Have lived their lives in usual ways
we never got to know them by name
I'm glad this man was here in our days

Cause he made us think of each other
And that things we do really matter
So here's to him and those he left
Our world seems to be somewhat flatter
