Badmen's Demise

In 1849 two good men turned bad.
'twas the curse of wanted gold.

But they didn't have the luck you need
so they killed two men they'd rolled.

They headed south through Soledad Pass
and joined a gang quite bold.

They plotted to rob a rancher
with money, so they'd been told.

The innocent rancher was kind
as they let their plan unfold.

After killing the man and his kin
they found no money or gold

so they hightailed it down the coast.
From this crime they'd not be paroled.

A posse had been struck to run them down
which was done on a beach in the cold.

They were taken to town, minus one, and hung.
